Left Front wins the highest number of seats in Kolkata Municipal Corporation elections

Описание: These scenes of celebration captured the upbeat mood of the Congress party in West Bengal although the ruling Left front managed to squeak past the winning post in a narrowest of victories in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation elections analyst almost unanimously agree that it was the Congress which was the moral victor out of the 141 seats which were contested the Left Front won 70 seats the Congress 66 the BJP 2 while independent won 3 seats two of whom are supposed to be Congress rebel candidates.

This contrasts with the out going CMC in which the CPM led Left Front had 90 seats while the Congress had the meager 36 seats only and the state Congress leaders can not help but gloat about the election results.

Ajit Panja, Union Minister, Coal speaks about the Kolkata Municipal Corporation election. He says, "Analysis would show that the Congress have done very well if all the votes polled had calculated. As a single party congress have done very well considering even the last parliament election"
