Australia’s PM says Bondi Beach shooting ‘evil act of antisemitism, terrorism’

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on Sunday, following the Bondi Beach attack, that it was a targeted anti-Semitic terrorist assault on Jewish Australians during Hanukkah.
He said an attack on Jewish Australians was an attack on all Australians and vowed to eradicate hatred and violence.
Albanese expressed solidarity with the Jewish community, pledging full protection and national unity.
He praised police, first responders and civilians whose swift actions saved lives.
Authorities confirmed the incident has been declared a terrorist attack, enabling specialist counter-terrorism powers.
Security agencies said investigations are ongoing, with no indications so far of further imminent threats.
Australia’s national terrorism threat level remains at “probable” as officials continue to assess risks.
