Renowned TV and Film Actor Asim Bukhari No More

Veteran Pakistani actor Asim Bukhari passed away in Lahore on Thursday after his health deteriorated significantly. His son, Ajlal Bukhari, confirmed the news of his death through a post on Instagram. According to Radio Pakistan, the respected actor was 76 years old.

Family sources said that Asim Bukhari had been suffering from serious heart and kidney complications for some time. His condition worsened suddenly and he fell into a coma on Wednesday. Earlier, his son had requested prayers for his father’s recovery through a social media message.

Asim Bukhari had a long and distinguished career in Pakistani television and film, appearing in both Urdu and Punjabi productions. His final project was the PTV drama serial Tootay Pattay, which aired in 2024.

Throughout his career, he performed memorable supporting roles in several popular dramas and films. His notable television appearances include the classic dramas Sona Chandi (1982) and Andhera Ujala (1984). In cinema, he also appeared in films such as Dubai Chalo (1979) and Badmash Gujjar (2001).

In recognition of his valuable contributions to the entertainment industry, Asim Bukhari was awarded the Presidential Pride of Performance.

The actor had also faced a major health scare in July last year when he suffered a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital. Reports at the time indicated fluid in his lungs and reduced kidney function, but he later recovered and returned home.

According to his family, the funeral prayers for Asim Bukhari will be offered today (March 12) after Asr prayers at Jamia Masjid Al-Rasheed in Bahria Orchard, Lahore. His passing has left the entertainment community and fans deeply saddened.
