The Monitors did one session for John Peel. It was recorded on 26th June 1979 and first broadcast on 5th July 1979. Producer was Trevor Dann and the Engineer was Mike Robinson.
Studio was Maida Vale 4.
As yet no tape of that show has surfaced. However, the session was repeated on 24th July 1979 and that is where these recordings are from. The show was recorded in different sections by different people and I have edited together the best I can.
The four tracks are Telegram / Token Gesture / I Believe In You / All The Help I Can Get
The Monitors were four lads from Roan School in Blackheath, London. They rehearsed at Greenwich Baths and recorded one single (Telegram / Compulsory Fun). That single is added at the end.
The band were Lee Wellbrook (Guitar, Vocals), Chris Kitchen (Guitar, Lead Vocals),
Nick Bidgood (Bass) and Gary Porter (Drums).
Kitchin and Wellbrook released one other single ('Patrick') as 'Big Table' in 1981.
Wellbrook and Bidgood still perform live and record as The Missouri Gutts; a three piece, acoustic, Americana, folk-rock band from North-West Kent.
This is everything I could find.
