The military junta in Niger appears to be trying to consolidate its power, two weeks after the coup d'etat. It has appointed new cabinet ministers and rejected the latest attempts to re-install democratically elected President Mohamed Bazoum. An advisor to Bazoum has warned he is running low on food, and is under defacto house arrest at the presidential palace. Last week, the regional body Eccowas threatened military action if Bazoum is not reinstated. It is due to hold an emergency summit tomorrow. FRANCE 24's international affairs editor Oliver Farry gives us more analysis.
