School Improvement Programme

Aimed at improving the quality of education in government primary schools, Aga Khan Foundation’s School Improvement Programme (SIP) in Bihar works to enhance teacher support systems. This is done with a view to encouraging government teachers to transform the nature of learning in their classrooms, using low-cost teaching learning materials, and to create an engaging and child-friendly atmosphere conducive to improving the learning outcomes of children. The larger objective of SIP is to support children’s achievements in government schools and encourage greater student transition throughout primary years and from primary to secondary grades, thereby reducing the risk of students dropping-out.
