What if I told you there’s an island in India with white sand beaches, turquoise waters like the Maldives, epic coral reefs, and barely any crowd? Welcome to Havelock Island, a part of the Andaman & Nicobar archipelago, and possibly India’s most underrated tropical escape.
In this video, I explore every corner of this magical island – from Radhanagar Beach (ranked one of Asia’s best beaches) to scuba diving among colorful reefs, meeting locals, understanding its unique history, and discovering untouched spots away from tourists.

⛵ BUT FIRST, SOME HISTORY YOU DIDN’T KNOW…
Havelock Island, officially renamed Swaraj Dweep, was once part of a major British naval route. The island is named after British General Henry Havelock, a controversial figure of the 1857 revolt. Post-independence, India retained the name until 2018 when it was changed to “Swaraj Dweep” to honor Subhash Chandra Bose’s call for “Swaraj” (self-rule) during World War II — Bose had once even hoisted the Indian flag here when the islands were briefly under Azad Hind control.
This island was also once a penal colony under British rule, along with the infamous Cellular Jail in Port Blair. But over time, it transformed from a colonial outpost to one of the most serene eco-tourism destinations in India.
