Sometimes small miracles happen. It was a spontaneous decision to go out and metal detect that day. The choice for this particular steep spot fell quick. I expected it to be cleaned out already, which was partially the case. Fortunately I was able to make a few finds. For some reason overlooked musket balls were dominating the picture.
Once on top the situation didn’t look good at first, with very thick humus layer. I almost gave up hope, when a strong signal on the surface appeared. I didn’t expect anything old because the object was basically lying on top of leaves. The surprise was huge when I picked it up. A medieval (?) artifact on the surface, how could this happen? Disturbed soil and big holes next to it indicated boar activities.
Unfortunately the relic hunt got interrupted by problems with my camera, which constantly overheated (even with the battery door wide open). Issues aside, I think it was a great outing. I hope you enjoyed this trip.
