Seismic Telegraph is not exactly a new band, as all four members have been playing in various combinations at Quadelectronic events for many years, honing a rapport that one could say has achieved an almost telepathic empathy and way of working.
The band comprises: Chris Conway (of improvising projects such as The Planet Scanners, Escape Route, Audible Light, Modulight, etc.), Jez Creek (aka Modulator ESP, collaborator in Modulight, and other projects), plus the brothers Alan & Steve Freeman (long-time collaborators as Alto Stratus, in Endgame, Triax and also with Escape Route). As there were only these four performers at Quadelectronic 168 in December 2024, and that the three large pieces performed together were so successfully sublime, Chris Conway suggested the idea of a new band, so - after much mulling over a name - Seismic Telegraph was born.
This new release is not just a reproduction of the recordings from the live event, but has been considerably "snazzied up" by Chris Conway for a richer more "cosmic" sound, balancing the production so that it almost works like a three-part suite.
So, welcome to the world of Seismic Telegraph. No doubt more albums will follow, and maybe even live performances if we can get them!
