An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter scale struck the Telugu states at 7:27 AM, with its epicenter located near Ialapur in the forests of Mulugu district, close to Medaram. The quake originated 35–40 kilometers beneath the Earth’s surface, which reduced its intensity at the surface level. Had it been at a shallower depth of around 10 kilometers, the impact would have been far more significant. Residents across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana felt mild tremors but reported no major damage.
