Amniotic Stem Cells Documentary

Описание: A short documentary about amniotic stem cells and their potential future uses.
Amniotic stem cells are multipotent stem cells of mesenchymal origin. Unlike embryonic stem cells, they are extracted from amniotic fluid and don't require the destruction of a human embryo. Among others, they can differentiate into skin, cartilage, cardiac tissue, nerves, muscle, and bone tissue.
Extraction of amniotic stem cells requires amniocentesis which does carry a small procedure-related excess risk of pregnancy loss (estimated at 0.06%).
