Karena demonstrates mounting a finished watercolor painting to a cradle board and discussed the materials she has used with great success.
Things I forgot to mention -
1. Make sure watercolor is fairly flat before mounting. If there are dips in the paper they will tend to promote the dreaded bubble where the paper does not adhere evenly to the board. - To flatten - Do not iron. Lightly wet only the back and sandwich with flat boards, place a good amount of weight & leave to dry. At least 24 hours, larger paintings take longer especially in our coastal climate
1. I refer to aqua board but it is known also as gator board or gator foam. Not to be confused with the Ampersand Aquabord which is a prepared surface to paint on. I use both 1/8 and 1/2 inch.
