The Fish Eagle Trail is one of the hiking trails in the Umtamvuna Nature Reserve near Port Edward on the KZN South Coast. This is a circular trail starting near the Pont caravan park. The trail runs along the Umtamvuna River before heading up to the top of the gorge where it circles back to end up back at the starting point.
The trail is reasonably well laid out and showcases some spectacular views of the Umtamvuna Gorge. The trail is 8km long and you can expect to take anything between 2.5 to 4 hours to complete. The climb out of the gorge is quite strenuous, but if you have the time, then it should be manageable for most levels of fitness.
