Описание: CINCINNATI (ADAM CLEMENTS) I began following this story on February 14th, 2013, the day young Trinity Lazo received a lifesaving heart transplant.

To tell the full story of the heart that now beats in Trinity, we have to start with the story of young Logan Baker. It s A story you will see only on Local 12 news. A story that now comes in full circle.

The sound of a heartbeat can be powerful, especially when it comes from a child.


Logan was a beautiful, sweet, calm happy baby, says Logan s mother, Tracie Baker.


Kevin and Tracie Baker knew they were on borrowed time with their son Logan.


At about six weeks, his biopsy came back that it was a form of muscular dystrophy, says Tracie.


The Bakers made sure their little Logi Bear got to experience as much life as he could in his thirteen months.


His father, Kevin Baker, says they enjoyed his, "First Royals game." His mom shared with Local 12, "First flight. We took him to the beach when he was about 10-months-old."


Logan died on February 11th, 2013. The Baker s were approached about the possibility of organ donation.


Some of the doctors and members of the transplant team told us definitely kidney and liver could be able to be donated and they thought that the heart would also. Once we heard that, there were no second thoughts, says Kevin.


Three days after Logan passed away. His still beating heart found a new home in 2-year-old Trinity Lazo. Quite fittingly, it was Valentine s Day.


It s exhilarating to see our kid do the things that we didn t think we would be able to do, says Trinity s mother, Monica Lazo.


Through anonymous letters, the Lazo s and the Bakers connected sharing pictures, stories and eventually planning a face to face meeting.


It s something we always wanted to do for a long time, says Monica.



August 23rd, 2014, the big day and nerves were on full display. As the Bakers approached, Trinity breaks free from Monica. Then the long awaited embrace, mother to mother, heart to heart.


It doesn t get any better than this. Like I said, how many different ways can you say thank you? It s a Godsend for us, says Monica.


Tracie says He s still changing lives. Even after he s gone.


The Baker s may have lost Logan, but they take great comfort in knowing his heart now has a good home.


He s with us all the time, but definitely something feels a little closer today.


Trinity still sees the doctor at Cincinnati Children s Hospital for regular exams. Overall she is doing very well.
As for the Bakers, Kevin and Tracie are expecting a baby in November.
