Описание: On December 18, 1865, the ratification of the Thirteenth Amendment was announced. A constitutional amendment to forever abolish slavery was originally proposed in December, 1863. It passed the Senate on April 8, 1864 and the House on January 31, 1865. 27 out of the then total 36 states then needed to ratify the amendment. On December 6, 1865, Georgia became the 27th state to approve the ratification.
