In the game, we start in a dreary corporate job with the Joja Corporation, a massive retail and logistics company that has spread into small towns like Pelican Town. They run the JojaMart, a warehouse‑style store that undercuts local businesses with low prices.
The job has left us burned-out and unfulfilled, and we are seeking a change. Years earlier, our grandfather gave us a sealed letter, instructing us to open it when life became too overwhelming.
Upon opening it, we discover he’s left us the deed to his old farm in a quiet rural area far from the city called Stardew Valley.
We arrive with basic tools and a few coins, greeted by the welcoming townsfolk. The farm is overgrown and neglected, but full of potential.
The town itself is charming but struggling—especially the Community Center, which has fallen into disrepair due to Joja’s (our former employers) influence.
So join me as we learn to setup and play this charming game of farming and friendship, as we play Stardew Valley: The Board Game.
