They also attempted to vandalize items inside the Church. The #Orthodox #Patriarchate of #Jerusalem, Theophilus III, denounced the attack and emphasized the need to respect the basic human right of worshiping freely. The World Council of Churches (WCC) also condemned the attack and called for the protection of all holy sites. This is not the first time a holy site has been attacked, as the Church of the Flagellation in Jerusalem was also targeted in the past.
