LARA HOPE AND THE GOLD HOPE DUO
When Ameripolitan Award winning artist Lara Hope teams up with internationally touring, upright bass-slapping pro Matt ‘The Knife’ Goldpaugh, they become ..The Gold Hope Duo! This husband and wife team bring their own brand of stripped-down upbeat Rockabilly, Rhythm & Blues, Country, Folk, and a pinch of humor, to Bearsville as our headliner. Living by the motto ‘If you can’t do it, kazoo it!’ they are sure to make you laugh, drink and dance..
JENNA NICHOLLS AND JON LADEAU
The music of Jenna Nicholls has been turning heads since she arrived in the Lower East Side of NYC. From cowboy tunes to original ballads Jenna delivers a lush nostalgic style and mesmerizing delivery. She has performed worldwide, including at the Beacon Theater in NYC and Carnegie Hall. Jenna will be playing at the Festival with guitarist and singer Jon LaDeau, whose music delivers a nostalgic, feel-good blue-eyed soul groove and whose recent album, Time Capsules, has been positively reviewed throughout the world of Americana and Folk.
HEY BUB
Hey Bub is Lily Bergstein and Christian Joao, a musical duo that brings their love of “old-time” music to audiences across the Hudson Valley. They bring together multi-generational communities who love their foot-stomping joyful music. Their pet name for each other is Bub – hence the name of the band!
All three bands are active in the roots music community, playing festivals, cultivating the musical traditions of the Hudson Valley and helping to grow its branches. This first ever BEARSVILLE FOLK FESTIVAL is set to become a tradition - an annual Independence Day weekend event - come and wet your whistle on our Catskills Roots!
Musician Mike Seeger (half-brother to Hudson Valley’s own Pete Seeger) once famously commented that the definition of American folk music is "...all the music that fits between the cracks.”
The Hudson River Valley, from the source of the river in the Adirondack mountains to its mouth over 300 miles south, is chock full of that music. From bluegrass, to gospel, old time music, jug bands, Appalachian folk, blues, to Cajun music, this is an area of rich musical tradition.
Bearsville Theater encourages, promotes and develops the Valley’s tradition of singers, songwriters and small acoustic bands in partnership with Folkadelic Inc., culminating in the annual 4th July Weekend Folk Festival here on the grounds of the historic Bearsville Theater.
Bearsville Park and Theater are accessible to customers with disabilities. Both the park and Theater ground floor are accessible by wheelchair and the venue has ADA accessible restrooms
