Resilience and recovery in Ukraine: Exploring pathways forward in the midst of war

Описание: The invasion of Ukraine has caused a tremendous loss of life and livelihoods, putting stress on the economy, and forcing millions of people to leave their homes. According to the Government of Ukraine, at least US$100 billion worth of buildings, roads, bridges, hospitals, and schools have been destroyed. The war has caused half the country’s businesses to shut completely, while the other half are struggling. As the fighting continues, the negative repercussions ripple across Ukraine, the region, and the world.

As the destruction intensifies, efforts to rebuild continue unabated. Across humanitarian, development and peacebuilding needs, the coordinated response of the UN and partners is assisting the people and the Government of Ukraine to recover and reconstruct now, ensuring that immediate needs are linked to long-term goals. The work we implement today will have a long-term sustainable impact, supporting the country’s efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

In this seminar a panel of distinguished speakers will take a deeper look at the current needs of Ukraine and the region and explore pathways towards recovery in the midst of war.
