Описание: Welcome back to Glasgow's Old Ruins - Downstream now from the previous Videos of the Dawsholm Viaduct, we come to the Railway Junction high above the River Kelvin that were destined for the Old Maryhill Central Station...

A great adventure was had in ascending the Old Railway Bridges above the River Kelvin and investigating the Rail Line - which I found evidence of a demolished building on the Line. Along with seeing and documenting these marvellous Old World Structures here that are now Ruins we see many interesting things along the way ... 🦜🦌

Including the closed off-limits portal to the remnants of Maryhill Central Station - with some of the remains of the Station encased underneath Maryhill Tesco on the other side of the fortified gate, which may include some of the Rail Lines, Platforms, Pillars for the future potentiality of reinstating the Railway - Just behind the gate at the end of the Video, underneath the Streets of Maryhill...

Maryhill Central Station was opened as Maryhill Barracks Station in 1894 with a Railway Bridge connected it from Kirklee, Dawsholm or Kelvinside for the Caledonian Railway on the Central Line. Renamed to Maryhill Central in 1952 but then ultimately closing to passengers by 1964.

Leaving behind a massive City-trail of Ruins and Remnants... Which I have Explored and Documented many of what is left behind 🔎

The site of the station is now occupied by Maryhill Shopping Centre which was built in the early 1980s. This was rebuilt in around 2010 to consist of a large supermarket, with 4 retail units and car parking below.
However, a space was left in the basement of the shopping centre to allow the line to be re-opened in the future; this was still considered an option in the mid-1990s, with the building of a large bingo hall on the cutting (east of the site) left a channel for the original line to be re-opened below ground.

In 1999, however, this prospect was put to rest with the sale of land for housing along many parts of the track in the Kirklee and Cleveden sections of the track along with the demolition of many of the bridges around the same area for safety reasons. Maryhill Shopping Centre was demolished in early 2010 and replaced by a new Tesco supermarket. The void beneath the supermarket for the railway station has again been retained to allow the future possibility of reopening the railway line.

I of course cannot progress past the gate which once connected to an abandoned tunnel on the other side of the premises to travel underneath Ruchill Park on route for the Possil Railway Station on Balmore Road which still exists as an Old Ghost Station (Future Video Coming Soon) for this Railway Line, but are simply documenting it's existence as the end of this weeks Explore on the Old Abandoned Railway - Glasgow's Old Ruins.

Next Time on Glasgow's Old Ruins we journey underneath the Forth and Clyde Canal to Explore and Document the Abandoned Kelvindale Railway Tunnel 🚂

Also on my Channel from this Old Caledonian Railway are the following to watch -
Botanic Gardens Station (Underground Tunnel)
Kelvinside Station (Underground Tunnel)
Bridgeton Station (Underground Tunnel)
Crow Road Station (Underground Tunnel)
Partick Central Station (Hidden Platforms)
Yorkhill Bridge for Partick Central Station -
And much more 🔍
