This sursringar was given to Chris Doddridge by the person who commisioned it from an Indian maker. As with all his instruments Chris plays in a low tuning, with the lowest note here being a D below the regular range of a double bass.
Chris's austere playing style is based on the Dhrupad tradition.
Total length- 150 cm.
String length- 84 cm.
Width of Tabli- 43 cm.
Length of Tabli- 48 cm.
Length of finger plate- 57 cm.
Length of peghead- 42 cm.
Chris tunesin E or F these days, thats like old Surbahar pitch.
