It is art with a function. This year's warming huts are now on display at The Forks. Six new warming huts have been placed on the river. CBC Manitoba community reporter Shannah-Lee Vidal visited the Prairie Castle warming hut, designed by Nick Green and Greig Pirri of Scotland. The warming hut was inspired by Scottish castles and Manitoba grain elevators.
One of the new warming huts along the Nestaweya River Trail resembles a giant birchbark basket. ROSEMARY Skool was designed by Suzanne Morrissette and Jaimie Isaac of the ROSEMARY Gallery. The space is intended to be more than a place to get a break from the cold. CBC Manitoba community reporter Shannah-Lee Vidal spoke to the artists.
