In 1801, Joseph Marie Jacquard demonstrated the Jacquard mechanical loom. His invention lead directly to data and computer storage devices, as well as computer programming, used through the 20th century. Although completely mechanical, the Jacquard Loom is one of the most influential pieces in early computing and technology history.
