In this episode of Geeta Unplugged, Satyavrat Das reflects on Bhagavad Gita Chapter 8, Verse 5, where Shree Krishna reveals a powerful and comforting truth about the final moment of life.
Krishna declares that whoever remembers Him alone at the time of death, while relinquishing the body, surely attains Him—without any doubt. This verse highlights the immense importance of one’s state of consciousness at life’s last moment. The mind naturally goes where it has been trained to dwell, and remembrance of God at that time leads the soul toward divine realization.
Through this shloka, we are reminded that God-realization is not accidental—it is cultivated through continuous remembrance of the Lord’s Names, Forms, Qualities, Pastimes, and Abode. Such absorption transforms the soul, leading it toward a godlike nature (mad-bhāvaṁ).
Tune in to this contemplation to understand how devotion, awareness, and remembrance shape not just our present life, but our ultimate destination.

Commentary
Shree Krishna declares in this verse that, whoever remembers Him at the time of death, attains Him and becomes God-like in character. He uses the words mad bhāvaṁ, which means “godlike nature.” Therefore, one can achieve the cherished goal of God-realization by consciously absorbing one’s mind in the transcendental Names, Forms, Virtues, Pastimes, and Abodes of God, even at the time of death.
It is one’s state of consciousness and the object of their absorption at the time of death; that determines their next birth. Shree Krishna will explain this principle in the next verse.
