Which kind of second-chance hire makes for a better worker: someone with a violent crime background, or someone with only nonviolent crimes on their rap sheet?
We surveyed our clients from 2016 through 2022, and made an interesting discovery about what kinds of criminal records correlate with on-the-job performance. We thought it might be helpful to share our findings here.
While not every criminal background is right for every workplace, we hope our data will encourage employers to keep an open mind about the kinds of second-chance hires they can make, and why a broader policy can make for an even better workforce!
