Pastor Stefan Ras will be preaching from the book of Romans, Chapter 1, Verse 1.
This is an introduction to the study of the book of Romans.
This book is a letter that was written to the Church in Rome (i.e. believers) by the Apostle Paul.
Paul was a Roman Jew, being born in Tarsus in Rome to a Jewish family. He was a Pharisee, someone who fully knew and understood the law and the Jewish customs, traditions and way of life. He persecuted people who believed in Jesus Christ, until his conversion on the road to Damascus. After he was saved, God separated him for a time and taught him all he needed to know by direct revelation. When Paul wrote this letter, he had never been to that church in Rome.
This letter is actually a systematic teaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The theme of the book is “Righteousness through faith”.
Paul is a servant of Christ, meaning that he has freely chosen to serve Christ with his whole life, because of his love for Him. We need to have this same heart for Christ, to be willing to love and serve Him with all of our lives. Following His commandments should not be a burden to us in any way.
In order to be an apostle, you have to have seen Jesus Christ, to have been commissioned by Him for His work and be able to confirm this by way of signs and miracles. None of that is possible today, so there cannot be any apostles in our time. Even though we cannot be apostles, we are still “sent” as messengers of the Gospel, just as they were.
We are to be separated from the world so that we can share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others. God wants to use you for His purpose of sharing the Gospel.
