When it comes to beat-em-ups, look for a solid variety of battle mechanics. With 27 unarmed combat commands and a plethora of objects to use as weapons, Dynamite Cop delivers in spades. From hurling a SEGA cab to unleashing a mushroom cloud, even down to the choice of eating apples instead of throwing them, the game is comedic madness.
STRATEGY
Early on you want to grab a handgun in the bar area. The optimal way to play is by arresting normal enemies (hold), looting them (B), and stockpiling ammo chambers and health. Your ammo chamber reloads when you move locations, so you can afford to shoot occasionally. Your health bar can exceed over 100%. So grab ALL of it.
If you've managed to hold onto a pistol right up until Alexander, or Kraken, then you've done well. Shoot them from a distance to guarantee damage, finish them off with normal attacks.
Defeat Mask De Pedro (traitor) using the Dive Bomber attack (→, X and B together).
Run around Wolf Hongo to trigger his machine gun attack.
USEFUL FOLLOW UP ATTACKS
PUNCHES: X X Y Y Y (finishes the punch combo with a low kick)
KICKS: Y Y X X (finishes the kick combination with a push)
HAND GUN: When you’re powered up (green gauge), you can fire 5 shots to knock an enemy down, rush in, jump, hit them with 3 more shots while they’re grounded, then finish with an elbow strike as you land.
AERIAL ATTACKS: Many jump attacks have a follow up. Spam X or Y as you land.
