YAKSHAGANA BAALAGOPALA
Back in the 20th century until 1965 it was taught in the gurukula system at AIGALA MATH. To become an expertise in the art of YAKSHAGANA, one has to undergo the training of poorvaranga under the guidance of guru which has different kinds of dance forms named kodangi, Bala Gopala, and strivesha (lady character). To enact these characters one has to have thorough knowledge on different
types of steps in Sapta tala, shlokas that come in poorvaranga, vachanas, and literature. To learn this, one has to at least practice the this art form for 2 to 3 years.
After completing this he will be advanced to perform in the main story as a child artist acting the roles like prahalaada, vrishasena, manmatha, lavakusha etc. His performance will be evaluated by his gurus and senior audience, depending on their feedback and suggestions his advanced training will be decided.
