Businessman and ANC member Suleiman Carrim will learn on Thursday
whether he will be compelled to appear before the Madlanga Commission,
after applying to interdict the inquiry. Carrim argues the commission
relied on incorrect rules in subpoenaing him and alleges bias. But the
inquiry is disputing these claims, and wants the matter struck off the
roll for lack of urgency. Carrim was implicated by Witness X and
KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi. Retired Interpol
ambassador and security strategist Andy Mashaile and Unisa politics
expert Prof. Dirk Kotzé discuss the implications.
