From Field to Forest- A Tree Planting Success Story

Описание: Some deer habitat projects we see immediate results from, and others we may not see the fruit of our labor for 10, 20, or even 30+ years.  Planting trees is one of those projects we do with the long game in mind.  

There's some family land near us that was planted into trees back in 2002.  I remember picking rocks and watching my dad and grandpa bale hay and chop corn off that piece of ground as a child.  But when my great uncle bought it, he decided to plant all of the tillable acreage into trees.

Looking at that piece now, it's crazy to think about what it used to be and what it is now.  It was always low value, rocky ground from an agricultural standpoint.  But since planting the trees, it has turned into high value food and cover for deer, turkeys, and a variety of other critters.

Trees can seem like they take forever to grow.  But life has a way of flying by.  It may take years to experience the results of a tree planting project, but once you finally get to that payoff, the work you put into it all those years ago will be worth it.
