Long distance runners often have pain in the low back, hip pain, glute pain, sciatica, and lower extremity injuries such as calf strains, achilles tendonitis, and hamstring strains... Many times this is due to an imbalance or dysfunction of the pelvis.
These injuries can be a compensation injury from an imbalance of the pelvis!
As we run 80-90 steps per minute, per foot, an imbalance causes our pelvis to shift, different muscles to fire and areas to get compressed or tensioned. Over time this can result in a compensation injury.
Our job as a chiropractor is to get a detailed analysis of how your pelvis, spine and body is functioning to see if there are any areas of compensation.
