I want to share with you a really cool feature that our Kalmar ReachStacker's have along with one example of how we use it. But first, context....
At SEQH, we have a very efficient hubbing operation that we use in both Brisbane (Hemmant) and also Toowoomba. The key for us is to be able to provide accurate times to our customers as to when they will receive their containers and also to be able to handle large volumes.
Briefly, why hub?
Running directly from terminals / empty container depots to our customers facilities does not allow us to provide accurate times because the process/variables/line up/handling component is outside of our control. We provide certainty via our organised hubbing model.
In this example, we have one A-Double arrive in Hemmant that came from our Toowoomba depot. The second A-Double is specifically allocated between the #POB wharf. The timing of these two trucks aligned beautifully and rather than stacking up the containers, we will transfer and deliver the 2 x 20ft loaded exports directly into the terminal. On that note - the containers need to be rotated before we deliver them into the specific terminal, DP World. This video illustrates a cool way of how this is efficiently achieved.
