Manipur has once again been shaken by brutal ethnic violence as a Meitei man was abducted and shot dead in Churachandpur district, triggering widespread outrage and renewed security concerns across the state. The killing comes just one day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended Manipur Statehood Day greetings, calling for unity, peace, and development.

The victim, Mayanglambam Rishikanta Singh, was reportedly abducted along with his wife by suspected Kuki militants and taken toward Natjang village under the Henglep police station area. Police officials believe he was executed shortly after the abduction, while his wife was later released. A disturbing video circulating on social media allegedly shows the victim pleading for his life moments before he was shot, intensifying anger and fear among local communities.

Authorities suspect the involvement of a militant outfit that is not part of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement, raising serious questions about law and order in Manipur.
