피자 속의 진리

박기범

피자 한 판을 시켰다
밤이 나를 밀어 넣은 골목에서
나는 전화기 속 작은 불빛에게 말했다
배고픔 하나 배달해 달라고
치즈는 멀리서 눈처럼 녹아 오고
토마토는 붉은 마음을 접어 올 것이다

세상은 늘
자기 입맛이 옳다고 말한다
고추가 맵다고 울던 사람도
다음 날은 고추를 사랑한다고 말한다
그래서 사람의 말은
따뜻한 피자 김처럼
잠깐 허공에 떠 있다가
사라진다

초인종이 울렸다
문을 열자
둥근 밤 하나가 서 있었다
나는 그 밤을 식탁 위에 올려놓고
조심스럽게 한 조각 떼어
입 안에 넣었다
세상의 모든 주장들이
한 입 크기로 접혔다
짠맛
단맛
조금의 슬픔
그 모든 것이 모여
한 번의 따뜻한 침묵이 된다

강이 바다로 가듯
다른 입을 가진 사람들도
언젠가는 같은 배고픔으로
한 식탁에 앉을 것이다
나는 천천히
마지막 조각을 들었다

세상은 둥글다
그래서 우리는
끝내
같은 피자를 나눠 먹게 된다

​The Truth Within a Pizza
​By park ki-bum
​I ordered a pizza.
From the alley where the night had pushed me in,
I spoke to the small light inside my phone,
Asking for a delivery of hunger.
The cheese would come melting from afar like snow,
And the tomatoes would arrive with their red hearts folded.
​The world always insists
That its own taste is the right one.
The person who wept, saying the pepper was too spicy,
Will say they love peppers the very next day.
And so, human words
Float in the air for a brief moment
Like the warm steam of a pizza,
Before vanishing.
​The doorbell rang.
When I opened the door,
A rounded piece of the night was standing there.
I placed that night upon the dining table,
Carefully tore off a slice,
And put it in my mouth.
All the world’s arguments
Folded into a single bite.
Saltiness,
Sweetness,
A little bit of sadness—
They all gather together
To become a single, warm silence.
​Just as rivers flow to the sea,
People with different tastes
Will one day sit at the same table
With the same hunger.
Slowly,
I picked up the last slice.
​The world is round.
That is why, in the end,
We all come to share
The same pizza.
