Jesse Harper “Guitar Absolution In The Shade Of A Midnight Sun” 1969. Jesse Harper is the legendary New Zealand psychedelic rock guitarist, in the Hendrix vein, who recorded this material while living in London during 1969. Known for his songs that were performed by Human Instinct, Jesse, a.k.a. Doug Jerebine, plays some very psychey guitar on this LP. The ten demos, which make up this album, were recorded live with a drummer and bass, lead parts and vocals overdubbed by Harper. Practically a one/two man project. And like the Bevis Frond, who followed a similar pathway, the music is mainly super heavy, washed in phasing with multi-tracked guitar leads battling for attention. The Hendrix approach is very clear. Classic psyche rock. If you like Jimi Hendrix or expressive electric guitar you might like this.
