In this session, Shira Karpel will talk about the Preschool Life Skills (PLS) program developed by Dr. Hanley, a research-based teaching approach designed to help young children develop essential social, communication, and self-regulation skills in a positive and proactive way.
Rooted in the science of applied behaviour analysis, the program teaches 13 foundational skills – such as waiting, accepting “no, following group instructions, and gaining attention appropriately – that are critical for success in school and in life.
By teaching these skills early, the PLS program helps children build the tools they need to navigate social situations, manage frustration, and thrive in group environments.
For parents, this means a smoother transition to school and a stronger foundation for long-term learning and behavioural success.
