Oborne asserts that the British government wanted to keep this visit quiet, and journalists joined in in treating Saar’s visit as a "state secret".

Indeed, the secrecy surrounding Saar’s visit, which conveniently came during Parliament’s Easter recess, required the collaboration of the mainstream British media, Oborne says - and "as so often during the Gaza war, they cheerfully obliged".
