reading the hunger games for the FIRST TIME (cus we live in a dystopia)

I just HAD to know what the fans have been raving about, so I FINALLY read the Hunger Games for the FIRST TIME! I was shocked to have enjoyed it as much as I did. Although I do still wish I could have erased the movie from my mind in order to experience this book with only my imagination intact, it was still a great read. A dystopian one, for sure, but a thought-provoking, emotional, wonderful read. Have you read this book? Have you read the series? Did I make a mistake by starting with this book...?
