Letshego Bank was summoned to a hearing by the Employment Equity Commission (EEC) as part of the 15 companies that did not fully comply with the country's Affirmative Action (Employment) Act.
The EEC in January summoned the 15 employers, including Letshego, for review panel hearings due to their submitted affirmative action reports being disapproved.
These reports are meant to reflect companies' progression on workforce transformation.
According to reports, Letshego appeared before the panel for failing to properly record or handle a situation where a non-Namibian employee had been in a role for 12 years without a Namibian understudy.
No exemption had been granted for this, which is a requirement under the law when foreign workers are involved on the long term.
The hearings were held at the National Council in Windhoek on 21 and 22 January, and the commission was pushing for accountability, with some talk of potential criminal charges for non-compliance in serious cases.
