Walk around the famous Yaowarat Road in Chinatown
Yaowarat Road is the heart of Bangkok's Chinatown, one of the largest and most vibrant Chinatowns in the world. It was established in 1782 when Chinese merchants settled in the area after King Rama I moved the capital to Bangkok.
The road is known for its incredible streetfood, offering everything from Michelin-rated dishes to classic Thai-Chinese specialties like dim sum, bird's nest soup and roasted duck.
It is also home for several important temples, such as Wat Mangkon Kamalawat, the largest and most significant Chinese Buddhist temple in Bangkok.
Yaowarat Road is also called the 'Dragon Road', because its designed in a winding, S-shape, resembling a dragon's body, wich is believed to bring prosperity and good fortune according to Chinese geomancy (Feng Shui).
At night, the road comes alive, especially during major Chinese festivals like the Chinese New Year and the Vegetarian Festival, when the streets are packed with parades, performances and special food stalls.
The Yaowarat is a MUST-VISIT for anyone looking to expierence Bangkok's rich cultural diversity, amazing food and vibrant atmosphere
