Описание: Piergiorgio L. E. Uslenghi is an Italian-born American engineer, educator, researcher, and Distinguished Professor Emeritus at University of Illinois Chicago. He obtained his Laurea degree in electrical engineering from the Politecnico di Torino, Turin, Italy, in 1960, and later earned his Ph.D. degree in physics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, USA, in 1967.

Dr. Uslenghi has made significant contributions to various areas including electromagnetism, microwaves, antennas, scattering, novel electronic materials, optics, and applied mathematics. His extensive research has been published widely. He is affiliated with esteemed organizations such as the Phi Beta Kappa Society, the Sigma Xi Honorary Society, and the United States National Committee of the International Union of Radio Science (USNC-URSI) Commissions B, D, E, and K. Additionally, he is recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus of the Politecnico di Torino and is a fellow of the EMP and the URSI.

Throughout his career, Dr. Uslenghi has received numerous accolades for his outstanding contributions. He was honored with the IEEE Third Millennium Medal and the IEEE AP-S Distinguished Achievement Award. In 2003, he was inducted into the Accademia delle Scienze di Torino. His exceptional achievements led to his appointment as a University of Illinois Scholar in 2006 and as a Distinguished Professor in 2009. He served as President of the IEEE AP-S in 2001, Vice-President of the IEEE AP-S in 2000, Chair of the USNC-URSI from 2006 to 2008, Vice-President of the URSI from 2011 to 2014, and reelected for 2017–2020. Dr. Uslenghi has also served as the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation from 1995 to 1998 and of Electromagnetics from 1983 to 1989. He played a pivotal role as the Founding Editor of the IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters (AWPL).

In recognition of his contributions, the IEEE Board of Directors established the AWPL Piergiorgio L. E. Uslenghi Best Paper Award in 2009. This prestigious award is presented annually by the IEEE AP-S to the author of the best letter published in the IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters during the previous year.
