IFS-Informed EMDR Part 3: Unburdening the exile (or inner child)

Описание: Welcome to Part 3 of our series on IFS-Informed EMDR Therapy. This video is a continuation and a deepening of Part 2 on work with exiles, the inner child, or parts of our clients that hold pain and wounding. Here are a few more questions that you can put in your tool box for when you are doing Parts Work.

“Is there any messages or beliefs this part wants to let go of or leave behind?”

“If that belief or message took a shape or physical form what might it look like? You can imagine that part removing the belief - some people like to imagine it’s a heavy rock they throw off a cliff, or maybe it’s something you want to set on fire, or destroy. What comes to mind with how this part want to disconnect from the painful beliefs or messages?”

“Now that you’ve connected with this part of yourself and offered it love / support- let’s ask it where it would like to be. Does it want to stay where it is and do (an enjoyable activity)? Or is there somewhere else where is might feel at peace and enjoy?”

“Imagine that part going there. How does that feel? Go ahead and tap in those good feelings and let yourself soak them in.”

“Let the part know how much you care about it and that you will check in with it again to make sure it has everything it needs.”
