Basmati rice – 2 cups (soaked 30 mins)
Chicken – 500 g (bone-in or boneless, cut into pieces)
Onions – 2 large (thinly sliced, fried golden brown)
Tomatoes – 2 medium (chopped)
Yogurt – ½ cup
Cooking oil / ghee – ½ cup

Ginger garlic paste – 2 tbsp

Green cardamoms – 4
Black cardamom – 1
Black peppercorns – 6–8
