#5 Bob Sapp vs. Alexander Emelianenko
Bob Sapp had a very promising career in MMA and the fighting sports. He was huge in terms of size (he was once caught for steroid use) and very powerful. And he did have some good fights at the beginning of his MMA career. That being said, later down the road, he became somewhat of a laughing stock in the world of martial arts. People blamed him for throwing fights and for not showing heart when fighting. One of his fights was against Fedor Emelianenko’s less known brother – Alexander Emelianenko. During the pre-fight staredown, Emelianenko smiled – fully comfortable in measuring out his opponent. But Bob Sapp wasn’t having any of it – he shoved Alexander and started cursing. Move forward to the fight night – Emelianenko had a comfortable TKO win over Sapp in the very first round of the fight.
#4 James Thompson vs. Alexander Emelianenko
If you see a pattern here – then it may be because of Alexander Emelianenko’s disposition to carry himself in a leisurely way before and during fights. James Thompson was a fighter of another breed. Right before the fight started, Thompson screamed at the ceiling from the bottom of his lungs and then he literally focused his entire being into one deathly stare full of rage and venom towards his opponent on the other side of the cage – it was so strong that James even started shaking. Alexander, on the other hand, looked like he hadn’t slept for three days straight and he looked hungover – he wasn’t impressed with Thompson’s stare, to say the least. The fight started and Thompson lunged forward to strike Alexander as hard as possible. But Emelianenko rose to the challenge as the showed that he had a drastically better striking skillset than his opponent and KO-ed him a few seconds later.
#3 Dominick Reyes vs. Jordan Powell
You may know Dominick Reyes as a legit contender in the UFC’s light-heavyweight division, having being beat by legend Jon Bones Jones by a narrow split decision. At one point in his career, he fought against Jordan Powell. Both fighters had a turn at each other, swinging with some powerful shots. At one point, Jordan Powell waved his head from side to side, as if to say that Reyes had no chance to hurt him. Only a second later, if that, Reyes lifted his leg and landed a vicious head kick right in Powell’s jawline – knocking him out instantly. After seeing that he knocked out his opponent, Reyes walked away looking at his now unconscious opponent with disdain.
#2 Terry Martin vs. Chris Leben
If you don’t know who Chris Leben is, then you have no right to call yourself a true MMA fan. Chris Leben was a rock of a man full of heart in the ring. He was a member of the original TUF season and was one of the most outspoken and polarizing figures. It was bad that he had problems with his personal life outside the ring due to how much of a loose gun he was. That being said, in his fight against Terry Martin – his opponent had the better of him at one point. Both were swinging, but only Martin’s blows found a target in Leben’s face. It was obvious to everyone that Terry was doing some serious damage to Leben – as he was wobbly and he could barely stand straight. Everyone thought that a KO was inevitable. And they were right – only it was the other way around. Chris Leben was flailing his arms in the air, struggling to find a target. Terry Martin became too confident after he landed several powerful blows that wobbled Leben – so he spread his arms wide, taunting the heavily discombobulated Leben. It’s then that Leben’s arm finally hit home and KO-ed Terry Martin right there on the spot, for one of the biggest comebacks in MMA history.
#1 Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman
Neither Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman are at the peak of their careers at this particular point in time. But both were champions in the UFC’s middleweight division. Anderson Silva is a living legend, one of the best MMA fighters in history. However, he became so cocky after defending his title several times, that he began taunting his opponents. Weidman wasn’t exactly the most technical striker in that fight and Silva easily saw through his flurries. Silva fought with his hands down for a big part of the fight, bobbing his head to evade Weidman’s shots and taunting Weidman as if he was a student of his. However, at one point Weidman managed to hit Silva in the head. Silva feigned as if he was about to fall down – still showboating, with his hands still down. Weidman did a jab-cross combo and he managed to hit Silva with the outside of his hand – which truly wobbled Silva. As Silva fell to the ground, Weidman was quick to pounce on him and finish the fight – and grabbing the middleweight division’s belt.
