In this segment, Alucard scales the Royal Chapel fighting off some annoying ravens, bats, flying skeletons, and walking on some very...big...bells.
Upon reaching the top he's met with the Hippogryph, which he puts his rapier to good use (after I remember "Oh yeah, I got a rapier equipped) to make quick work of it.
Once it's defeated, Maria pops back in for some more small talk before letting him know that she's looking for Richter. After the conversation, Alucard continues on to the Castle Keep, where he finds the Leap Stone, which allows Alucard to double jump. Once obtaining this, he uses the Key Portal to return to the Outter Wall, then to the large clock in the Marble Gallery where he first ran into Maria.
Using the Stop Watch, he opens up a pathway where he obtains the Alucart Equipment (useful for Item farming), then he waits until the other path opens up (opens and closes every minute) and follows it to Orlox's Chamber.
After a quick sprint through the lower chamber, Alucard proceeds to the Colosseum.
I personally consider the jaunt through the Royal Chapel rather boring, there's really nothing to worry about in this part, and all the enemies in it are more of annoyances than dangers.
This is the first time you see me (attempt to) use Soul Steal, using a Keyboard instead of a gamepad makes using this spell a bit more difficult, as you can see from the video. I usually tend to use it on the Spectral Swords, which comes in handy since you can kill them before they even see you (just cast Soul Steal while they are on the edge of the screen).
Also, I had a bit of a facepalm moment on the Outter Wall portion of this segment. For some reason when I was using the elevator, it pushed Alucard over to the left just a little when it stopped and it took me a second to realize it, and in the midst of me laughing at myself, I completely forgot the Garnet up on the ledge before the entrance to the Marble Gallery and had to go back and nab it.
Then there's my favorite part, the Alucart set. This is a special set that is an imitation of Alucard's original equipment (the stuff Death stole from him at the start of the game). The sword is really weak, the shield makes you take more damage from all elements, and the armor only gives you a total of 8 defense... so separate the equipment sucks, however, when you equip them all, it gives you a rather large boost of Luck, and that more than makes up for the drawbacks.
Why? Well in this game, Luck plays a factor in item drops from monsters. Higher Luck means you have a better chance for a monster dropping something. Combine that with some items you get later in the game (Ring of Arcana, which increases the chance of the rare items dropping), makes it great for farming equipment.
I put the set on in this segment, but I'll be putting my original equipment back on in the next (it's a force of habit for me, I just instinctively put it on as soon as I get it), but you can see my Luck go up from 15 to 45 when I equip the whole set.
The next segment we'll be going through the Colosseum, then be heading back to Long Library to pick up some nifty things, including the first Familiar.
Повторяем попытку...
