गठबंधन की राजनीति के लिए गठबंधन के साथी दलों को त्याग करना पड़ता है । तभी गठबंधन चलता है। इसके अलावा दूसरी चीज होती है परस्पर विश्वास की । इसके अभाव में गाड़ी छूट जाती है। यही अंतर है भाजपा और कांग्रेस की कार्यशैली में। भाजपा साथी दलों को विश्वास में लेकर चलती है। कांग्रेस साथी दलों को हमेशा संदेह की नजर से देखती है। वास्तविकता तो यह है कि गठबंधन की राजनीति कांग्रेस के लिए मजबूरी है और भाजपा इसे ज़रूरी मानती है। इसलिए अल्पमत में होने के बावजूद वह पूर्ण बहुत वाले अंदाज़ मँं सरकार चला रही है ।

The reality is that coalition politics is a compulsion for the Congress, while the BJP treats it as a necessity. That is why, despite not having a majority on its own, the BJP has been able to run the government with the confidence and effectiveness of a party enjoying a full majority.
