ENOJP Dialogues
are not-pretentious interviews whose main purpose is to share the open and collaborative atmosphere of the ENOJP conferences. They are more instigated than conducted by Lucas dos Reis Martins. Our starting point for this interview was the Spanish translation of the "Japanese Philosophy: A Sourcebook" ("La filosofía japonesa en sus textos". James W. Heisig, Thomas P. Kasulis, John C. Maraldo, Raquel Bouso García, 2016). The route taken in the conversation was not foreseen and is only limited by time.
"... he asked me to answer a question before the camera (...) The question was: 'What is improvisation? Is an improvisation possible?' I had to improve of course, and I said 'No, an improvisation is absolutely impossible', and I went on speaking for a half an hour, I think" (As if I were Dead – An Interview with Jacques Derrida, 1995)
Art director (setting, editing, camera assembly): Choplair
Key assistant: Waldermar Ramos
Interviewer: Lucas dos Reis Martins
*The interviewer is aware of his barbaric English. The improvement of subtitles and translations are welcome. (CC-BY 3.0)
This interview took place at the Second annual conference of the European Network of Japanese Philosophy [ENOJP] 7–10 December 2016, Université libre de Bruxelles [ULB].
