Welcome to week one of my 10K training block.
This time around, I’m intentionally approaching it differently. I am just coming off of a 3 month structured training hiatus to help me get back to the joy of running. I did two races (5k and 10k) without looking at my paces during and ended up winning my age group for both of them. This block is all about continuing to trust myself and trust the process.
Instead of putting pressure on a specific finish time, I’m focusing on:
Building a strong aerobic base
Locking into consistent mileage
Letting workouts feel controlled (not forced)
Trusting that fitness will come
The beginning of a training cycle isn’t about being at peak fitness - it’s about laying the foundation. Strong easy runs. Controlled workouts. Dialing in recovery. Staying patient.
In this video you’ll see:
My first workouts of the block
Easy miles + mindset shifts
How I’m structuring week one
If you’re starting a new training block too - whether it’s for a 10K, half marathon, or marathon, I hope this reminds you that you don’t have to set all the pressure on week one. You just have to start.
Consistency now = confidence later.
Let me know what you’re training for 👇
