The Seven Years’ War (1756–1763) was a global conflict involving major powers such as Britain, France, Prussia, Austria, and Russia, stretching across Europe, North America, India, and the seas between them. In Europe, Frederick the Great’s Prussia fought for survival against a coalition of Austria, Russia, and France, relying on rapid maneuvers and tough discipline to hold the line. Overseas, Britain and France clashed for imperial dominance, with Britain capturing key French positions in Canada, the Caribbean, and India. Shifting alliances, including Russia’s sudden peace with Prussia in 1762, reshaped the war’s final phase. The conflict ended with the Treaty of Paris and the Treaty of Hubertusburg, confirming Britain as the leading global colonial power. It also left many European states exhausted, setting the stage for new rivalries and revolutionary tensions.
