What is a diversion, examples of why we might divert , and what preparation you can do before take off, and what process to follow in flight!

A diversion occurs when you have to land at somewhere other than your intended destination. This can be for a whole number of reasons - most commonly due to
Weather deterioration enroute or at destination – low cloud, poor vis, approaching weather front/ thunderstorm
However, System malfunctions requiring reset on ground, Technical issues you to requiring land as soon as practical , a Low fuel state , where you can’t safely reach the destination with reserves intact, and when the Destination is not suitable for landing (e.g. blocked runway due to incident)

Having pre planned contingency plans reduces the stress, uncertainty and reduces confusion and alarm in the cockpit .
